Today is just one of those days where nothing comes. Not even something (un)noteworthy. Writer’s block. I’ve had this affliction before. It’s just that the sun is shining here on the coast, on this fine day in October, and I realize it might be the last one before the rains set in. A walk beckons. Back in an hour….
Labor day…or as we say in Canada, Labour Day. The last 10 days have sure been full of it…labour that is. We’d been trying to sell our condo for months and quite suddenly a buyer appeared and wanted it in three weeks! Three weeks to organize, pack, organize, organize….it was hectic. Long days full of lots of labour!
Moving day turned into moving night. Two trips, one strong man and helper Takeshi did the work with yours truly acting as supervisor. It’s what I do best, what can I say! I don’t do labour.

What a difference three hours makes. I left Phoenix at noon yesterday, with a temperature hovering around 108 degrees and high humidity. Arrived in the Pacific Northwest to a warm 80 degrees accompanied by those lovely mountain/ocean breezes. I’m home. Oh, how I missed that air!
Today’s Sunday? How could that be. I’ve been in a fog all day long, likely the result of the “Recirc-air Flight Flu”, courtesy of Allegiant Airlines.
What a thing to come down with after only four days in Arizona. Looks like Cassie will be looking after me tomorrow….stay tuned. I’m sure I’ll bounce back quickly and continue that blog I started a week ago.
Once again, the real estate dance dominated this week and I missed another deadline. Gomen (I’m sorry). An offer that looked solid was pulled two days before closing. Our dance card is now blank.
I’m back on track today after finalizing two days of negotiations on the sale of our property. Selling property is right up there in the Top 3 on the stress scale.
My last blog gave you an overview of why I wrote a kid’s book. You might now be wondering how I came to live and work in Japan. The idea came early in 1994, hatched out over a bottle of wine. Let us count the many ways that wine figures into all great decisions!
