Coming of Age, Japan-style

Full moon viewing (tsukimi) in September in Japan

Tsukimi (moon viewing) is a Japanese custom to appreciate and honour the full moon in the middle of September.  The moon is called “chuushu no meigetsu.” The custom was introduced from China, and spread in the Heian period (794-1192). Recalling day camp

  On July 13th Camp Alex day campers gathered outside to enjoy Fly Catcher Boy presented “kamishibai-style”. Counsellors and eight campers, age 5 +, proved to be our best audience yet!
